With 49 more people testing positive for coronavirus, Assam witnessed the biggest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases on Friday. The total infection tally in the state surged to 259, Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said. Of the total cases, currently, 198 affected persons are receiving treatment in the state, while 54 patients have so far recovered from the infection, while four patients have died due to the deadly disease.
