MHA amends rules of Model Prison Manual to address caste-based discrimination in jails

Ministry of Home Affairs amended the Model Prison Manual, 2016 and the Model Prisons and Correctional Services Act, 2023 to address caste-based discrimination within prisons across states and Union Territories, and to replace the existing definition of 'Habitual Offender'.
